On December 14, 2023 the Conference of National Black Churches (CNBC), made up of 7 of the national Historic Black Churches, gave Rev. Dr. Angélique Walker-Smith The Shirley Chisolm Award in Orlando, Florida during their National Awards evening at their annual National Consultation. The award is an acknowledgement of the extensive global, national, and local work she has done as a faith and public engagement thought leader. Board Chairman Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson and President Dr. Jaqui Burton presented the award on behalf of the CNBE Board of Directors. Three other awards were given, and the Rev. Dr. Al Sharpton was the keynote speaker.
Also attending the CNBC event was Rev. Dr. Delesslyn Kennebrew, JD MDiv. She is the Administrative Secretary of the National Convocation and Associate General Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In her position she serves as the denominational executive for the Black Constituency which is comprised of over 300 churches.
Rev. Dr. Kennebrew (in the picture on the left) commented that she was excited to capture the moment with a fellow Daughter who has served “…in a variety of spaces and offices helping to advance the work of justice.”
Congratulations Rev. Dr. Angélique Walker-Smith!
